ISLAMABAD, Jan 13: President Pervez Musharraf has expressed grief at the death of pilgrims in Mina, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday. According to reports, at least 362 pilgrims were trampled to death and several hundreds others injured in a stampede at Mina.

The president said the incident during the Haj had caused deep sorrow in Pakistan.

The president has expressed condolence over the death of pilgrims on his own behalf, the government and the people of Pakistan.

He prayed for the dead and recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in a separate statement said he felt deeply grieved over the death of pilgrims at Mina.

He said the incident had shocked the people of Pakistan and added that as true Muslims “we should submit ourselves to the will of God” and pray for His mercy and blessings in this hour of crisis.—APP
