LAHORE, Jan 13: The ARD has not yet approached the City District Government Lahore for a permission to hold a rally on Jan 16, nazim Mian Amer Mehmood said on Friday. He said the government would have no objection if the rally was held at a place where people did not feel any inconvenience. He said the government could suggest the ARD a suitable route for the rally. But he made it clear that a few people could not be allowed to create traffic problem for the entire city.

Mian Amer said a decision on invoking Section 144 would be taken keeping in view the situation and the ARD plans.

Meanwhile, the ARD has not made serious preparations for the Jan 16 rally in the city, said various alliance leaders contacted on Friday.

While PML-N leaders claim that the rally would be held even if the government invoked Section 144 CrPC., the Punjab PPP president said he would have an assessment of the situation on Saturday (today).

The ARD had planned a rally for Jan 8, but was cancelled when the government invoked the law which ban assembly of five or more people.
