HYDERABAD, Jan 31: Protest against the torture of prisoners by Hyderabad Central Jail administration continued here on Thursday.

A large number of political activists led by Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party leader Mehboob Abro staged protest sit-in outside the Hyderabad Central Jail gate to protest against the excesses unleashed by the prison administration on the prisoners.

Talking to newsmen, Mr Abro said that the prisoners were suffering torture encouraged by the jail superintendent Malik Altaf Awan and his deputy Aijaz Haider.

He warned that if the superintendent and deputy superintendent were not removed the protest would extend to entire province.

Meanwhile the students of Sindh University under the banner of Shagird Ittehad staged token hunger strike outside the press club against the inhuman atrocities unleashed by the central jail administration against the political prisoners.

They alleged that the prisoners were being tortured by the jail superintendent Malik

Altaf Awan and they were not being provided medical treatment.
