PESHAWAR, Jan 10: Construction of major dams, including Kalabagh, is vital for sustainable economic development of the the country, says Minister of State for Water and Power Amir Muqam. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the minister said only a particular lobby was trumpeting that Nowshera would sink if Kalabagh dam was built. If there had been any danger to any city, he (Mr Muqam) would have been the first person to oppose it.
The government, he said, did not want to impose KBD project on the nation and wanted to mould the public opinion in its favour. If the government wanted to impose its will on the people, the construction would have already started by now, he maintained.
He said the PML would be re-organized afresh in the Frontier province to make it a formidable political force. —APP
