LAHORE, Jan 10: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday expressed concern over “rapidly deteriorating situation in and around Dera Bugti” and reiterated its demand that all action should be stopped immediately and process of dialogue started. According to a press release, an HRCP mission found a very heavy presence of security forces in Dera Bugti where no gas installations existed. The commission apprehends acceleration in the armed conflict and an irreparable damage to the federation.

Due to the ongoing armed sorties, around 85 per cent of the local population has already left Sui while Nawab Akbar Bugti has also vacated his residence. Sui has, in fact, been cut off from the outside world since December 17.

Police have also not lodged an FIR of firing on an HRCP vehicle. Three shots of Kalashnikov were fired and most intriguingly the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had accepted the responsibility of firing, though it had no dispute with the commission.

“The commission feels that sealing off Balochistan and cut off a certain area would only create more bad blood and add to friction that exists in the country,” it said.
