Two officials transferred despite ban

MIANWALI, Jan 9: The district government on Monday transferred DEO (secondary schools) Muhammad Sibtain Khokhar and government higher secondary school, Kamar Mishani, principal Muhammad Farooq Khan.

Mr Khokhar was asked to report to the education secretary, Lahore.

It is surprising that the district government was not empowered to transfer grade-19 officers while a ban had already been imposed on transfers by the Punjab chief minister.

NAIB NAZIM POLLS: The Election Commission of Pakistan has fixed Jan 19 date for the Isakhel naib nazim polls.

Reports said the election had been postponed owing to the absence of 11 voters out of a total strength of 21 as only 10 members from the Khidmat Ittehad group had appeared before the returning officer. As per the law, more than 50 per cent strength was required for holding of election.
