FAISALABAD, Jan 9: A ban has been imposed on the parking of vehicles near mosques, eidgahs and imambargahs during Eid prayers across the district.

This was stated by City SP Abdul Saeed Naveed while talking to reporters here on Monday.

He said the decision had been taken to avoid any untoward incident and the policemen on duty at worship places had been asked to implement the ban in letter and spirit.

Special police teams would visit sensitive areas while armed commandos would be deputed in and outside mosques, imambargahs and eidgahs.

The lady police force, he said, would also be deputed at commercial centres during Eid celebrations to keep a vigil on the activities of suspects.

He said the entire functioning of the police would be monitored through a special control room while patrol police officials would keep senior officers informed telephonically.

Emergency squads had also been constituted to rush to any troubled spot on the call of the patrolling staff, he said.

The SP warned that disciplinary action would be taken against the policemen if they showed slackness.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad DIG Khawaja Khalid Farooq and SP (Investigation) Rana Muhammad Iqbal visited various areas and checked arrangements made in commercial, residential and rural areas by police officials.

Passengers on bus stands were being checked with metal detectors while search of suspected vehicles on roads was also going on.

Managements of mosques and imambargahs have been asked not to hold any religious congregation, including Eid prayers, without informing the area police in advance.
