QUETTA, Jan 9: A division bench of the Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Inspector General Police Balochistan, the DIG Police Investigation and the SP Crime Branch to appear before it on Jan 13 along with the relevant record of a murder case.

The bench comprised Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed.

Sanam Bibi, a resident of Hub, filed a petition in the Supreme Court, Quetta Registry, on Oct 7 last year that her husband Khan Mohammad had left his home on September 11, 2005 and did not return. The Edhi Foundation, Hub, buried his body presuming he had no heir. The petitioner prayed before the court to bring the accused to justice.

The SC bench after hearing the case ordered the IG Police, Balochistan on Oct 31 last year to take special interest in the case and ensure arrest of all culprits.

The IG Police, Balochistan did not appear in the court on the previous date of hearing on Dec 21 last year, following which the court ordered him along with the DIG Investigation and the SP to appear in court on Friday.—APP
