ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: Ruling out the possibility of infighting within the party, Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar, president People’s Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was confident that the party would return to power with a heavy mandate.

“The Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto would nominate candidate for the election of Jammu and Kashmir Council’s four seats, and PPP AJK chapter would support that candidate, he stated this while addressing the press conference here on Monday.

He said that as many as five candidates had filed their nomination papers to contest the election out of them one candidate Sardar Sawar Khan had withdrawn papers.

He said that People’s Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir would issue party tickets in the forthcoming election for those candidates who had public support.

AJK PP president said that the party tickets would be issued in consultation with Barrister Sultan Mehmood, Ch. Majeed and Ch. Yasin.

He said that people of the AJK had been fed up with Muslim Conference as it had failed to deliver.

He said that during the recent visit of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leadership provide the opportunity to sit together both parts of Kashmir.

Due to the non-cooperative attitude of India, Kashmir issue was not yet settled, he said.

Kashmir should be settled in accordance with the Kashmiris’ wishes, said Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar. “War cannot resolve problems and the PPP has always favoured talks for resolving the Kashmir dispute,” he said.

He said the Line of Control had no value because people living on both sides of the LoC were Kashmiris. He said the time was not far away.—Online
