TAXILA: The six assistant commissioners of district Attock and Taxila were reshuffled as the caretaker provincial government has made major changes in the local bureaucracy ahead of the upcoming general elections. According to a notification issued by the provincial government, Assistant Commissioner Fazail Mudassir was transferred and posted as assistant commissioner Sohawa.

Asif Nawaz serving as assistant commissioner Attock was posted in Taxila. Shahgufta Jabeen was posted as assistant commissioner Attock city, Zunaira Jaleel was posted as assistant commissioner Fatehjang, Sana was posted as assistant commissioner Hassanabdal and Kamran Ashraf was posted as assistant commissioner Hazro.

Couple robbed on motorway

A couple travelling on the motorway was robbed by armed persons while a house was looted in two different incidents in the jurisdictions of Hassanabdal and Taxila police stations on Thursday.

In the first incident, the couple travelling from Abbottabad to Faisalabad was robbed of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables when masked robbers intercepted them. Usman Afzal in his report lodged with the police said he had come back from Italy recently and was going on the motorway along with his wife when three persons in a Parado intercepted them and on gunpoint snatched two mobile phones, gold ornaments, an Italian residential card and then escaped.

Separately, four persons entered the house of Mohammad Suleman located in Jameelabad area in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station and held his family hostage at gunpoint.

They searched the house and injured one of the family members.

The suspects were able to escape with 3 tolas of gold, cash and other valuables amounting to over Rs500,000. In the same police station’s jurisdiction in Sarai Kala area, Malik Naseer and his nephew Malik Usama were intercepted by four persons riding on two different motorcycles and deprived of cash and mobile phones worth Rs300,000.

Moreover, in the Sarai Khola area, three armed bandits snatched a motorcycle, cash and a mobile phone from Qurban Haider and escaped. In the Lalarukh area, two armed persons stripped Waqar Nayab and his brother of cash and other valuables at gunpoint.
