ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: Leader of Opposition in the Senate Mian Raza Rabbani on Sunday condemned police action against workers and leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Lahore. In a statement, he said the meeting in Lahore of the party leadership and MPs from Punjab was aimed at reiterating the party’s position on Kalabagh dam and Balochistan and expressing confidence in the leadership of Benazir Bhutto,” he said.

This was the constitutional and legal right of the party but the regime got panicked and raided the houses and offices of the party workers and leaders and chased them to prevent them from assembly and meeting, he added.

He demanded that cognizance be taken of the incidents of highhandedness in Lahore and those responsible brought to justice.
