KARACHI, Jan 8: A young man died and two others were wounded when unknown persons opened fire at them near Qasba Colony Sunday night. Police said some youths were sitting near the Sector Office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire at them and fled.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Irfan was pronounced dead on arrival while two others Javed and Naveed were referred for further treatment to the Civil Hospital.

The SHO Pirabad police station said the victim’s were sympathizers of the MQM.

When the MQM headquarter was contacted for verification of the victims’ affiliation, they said that at the moment they did not have full details of the incident and could not confirm their affiliation.

SHOT DEAD: A security guard was shot dead by armed bandits during a robbery at a cellphone shop in the limits of Shah Latif police station.

Police said armed suspects came to the cellphone shop owned by Syed Farzand Ali. Security Guard Zar Gul posted at the shop tried to put up resistance but was shot dead by the bandits who managed to flee following the robbery.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died in a mishap in the limits of Sir Syed police station.
