KARACHI: A young man, said to be an informer, was shot dead in what police described as a targeted attack in Orangi Town in the small hours of Tuesday morning.

They added that 26-year-old Atif Nazar, 26, was killed by unidentified assailants in Shah Waliullah Nagar, Sector-11 ½.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Iqbal Market SHO Amin Mughal said that the incident took place close to the home of the victim.

The police said that the victim had worked with law enforcement agencies as their informer. Apparently, the SHO said, he was targeted by criminals due to his “spy activities”.

However, efforts were under way to ascertain the exact motive and culprits behind the killing, the police added.
