KARACHI: After bagging one Grammy and being nominated to another, singer Arooj Aftab is now set to become the first Pakistani artist to perform at the upcoming Grammy awards show, Dawn.com reported.

She will perform her nominated song ‘Udhero Na’ featuring Anoushka Shankar, the daughter of Indian maestro Ravi Shankar, at the premiere ceremony on Feb 5, hours before the main show is held.

Aftab won the prestigious trophy, her first, for her song “Mohabbat” in the Best Global Performance category at last year’s awards.

She shared a post on Instagram featuring details of her performance, saying: “I simply cannot wait to play my Grammy-nominated jam Udhero Na featuring Anoushka Shankar with her live for you at the Grammys.”

She urged her fans to tune into the live performance on Feb 5 at 12:30pm. The event will be available for streaming on the Recording Academy’s website and its official YouTube channel.

This year, Aftab’s ‘Udhero Na’ has been nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category.

Born to Pakistani parents in Saudi Arabia, she spent her teenage years in Lahore before moving to Boston’s Berklee School of Music.
