LAHORE: The Little Art is set to inaugurate the 13th ArtBeat – National Child Art Competition and Exhibition in Islamabad on Saturday (today).
The annual exhibition will open at Islamabad Art Gallery, F-9 Park and will be opened by Dr Arjumand Faisel, curator of Gallery 6 in the capital city.
A curated show of over 72 artworks by young artists from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be showcased at the exhibition. This year’s themes were “75 Years of Pakistan”, “Dialogue” and “Child Labour”.
Young artists from four to 18 years of ages were invited to paint or draw on these themes in their own ways. The show will remain open for the public for a day. The child artists selected to present their works would be awarded certificates and prizes.
This year, 270 schools and 24 community organisations working in education sector from across Pakistan participated in the 13th ArtBeat showcase.
The annual project was initiated in 2012 with a vision to promote visual culture, understand issues among children and youth from their perspectives, celebrate children as artists and present their views as a point of discourse for adults and the community.
