PESHAWAR: An organisation representing artists associated with music industry has called for holding an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Department at the recently held Dubai Expo, where it arranged cultural music performances.
The demand was made by Hunar Tolana members during a demonstration staged in front of Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday.
The body’s president Dr Rashid Ahmad Khan, a known singer and first-ever PhD scholar on Pashto music, led the protest.
The members of the organisation held that selection of performers at such events was not made on merit and popularity of artists. They asked for constituting a committee to approve selection of artists and holding of musical events at the international level.
