Sultan seizes skeet gold

KARACHI, Jan 6: Sindh’s Ahmed Sultan seized Skeet gold on the fifth day of the 15th National shooting championship at Naval Shooting Range on Friday.

This was Sindh’s third gold in the championship, which placed them at third spot behind holders Navy and Army.

Ahmed accumulated 137 out of 150 points in the event, leaving double Olympian Khurram Inam at second spot two points behind.

Khurram (Sindh) beat Navy’s Rao Shafique on a shootout to claim silver after both remained tied at 135/150. Shafique grabbed bronze medal.

Navy won both the team and individual golds in 10 metre Air Pistol. Tariq Manzoor clinched gold, young Navy shooter Shahzad silver and Zahid Ali secured bronze medal.

In the women’s 25 metre Pistol event, Capt Azra (Army) bagged gold, Habbira Yaqoob (Navy) silver and Mrs Nazish bronze.

Newly-introduced Double Trap event will be contested on Saturday.
