GUJRANWALA: Various government departments in the Gujranwala division, including Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), are defaulting on about Rs1.5 billion of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco).

The company has issued notices to all such departments for payment of their dues by Jan 25, warning them of cutting of power supply.

The departments include Wasa that is defaulting on Rs960m, Sialkot Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Rs60m, Daska TMA Rs9.2m, Gujrat TMA Rs50m, Kharian TMA Rs10.5m, Nandipur TMA Rs20m and Sambrial TMA Rs20m.

Other defaulting departments include the irrigation department, police, Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) and education department.

The Gepco officials have instructed the field officers to ensure the collection of dues from the defaulting departments.

The company has sent letters to the heads of the departments concerned.
