NAROWAL: A teenage boy who was kidnapped for ransom on Jan 14 was found killed on Tuesday.

Complainant Abdul Qadir, of Zafarwal, said his 16-year-old son Sameer was a tailor in a Sialkot factory. He travelled from Sialkot to Zafarwal in a bus and later a rickshaw from Zafarwal to the village Badha Pind. He said Sameer called them a couple of times while travelling and later his phone was switched off.

The Zafarwal police registered an FIR against the unknown kidnappers on Jan 15. Qadir said some callers demanded a Rs2m ransom through texts and calls from Sameer’s mobile phone. On Jan 17, he was found killed in the fields of Pandori village.

According to police sources, there were signs of torture on the body.

Locals protested against police for their inaction and kept the body on Zafarwal-Narowal Road, blocking the traffic.
