KARACHI: Gangsters linked with Lyari gang warfare on Monday evening threw a hand grenade to threaten a builder in old city area after he refused them to pay extortion (bhatta), police said.

The Napier police said that an unexploded grenade was found lying at Aziz building and they called the bomb disposal squad to defuse it.

“It was transpired that two men threw the grenade at the office of the builder and fled,” City SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar said, adding that the builder told police that Lyari gang war elements had demanded protection money from him.

The BDS in its report said that the grenade was a dud and without any pin.
