PESHAWAR, Jan 5: Peshawar clinched the Inter-region under-17 hockey championship defeating Bannu 3-1 at Lala Ayub Stadium on Thursday.

Bannu took an early lead in the 7th minute when inside-left Adnan Khan slammed in a superb goal from the top of the circle.

In the first 20 minutes Bannu was leading by one goal, but in the 22nd minute Peshawar’s inside right Ibrahim Khan levelled the score 1-1.

Peshawar kept up pressure to regain lead but could not break into Bannu’s defences. Both the teams were tied at 1-1 at half-time.

After the resumption of second-half, Peshawar scored two more goals in the 58th and 67th minute.

Full-back Ijaz sounded the board with an excellent penalty corner hit and Aslam Khattak netted a fine cross to make it 3-1 and seal the fate of the final.

Bannu tried their hard to reduce the margin but failed.—APP
