KARACHI: Night temperature may fall to 7-9 degrees Celsius in the city under the influence of a cold wave that has gripped Sindh, the Met department stated on Friday.

The minimum temperature recorded on Friday was 11°C with 16 per cent humidity whereas the maximum temperature was 23.4°C with seven per cent humidity.

“The cold winds that blew throughout the night made people feel that the day and night time temperature had dropped, though it wasn’t the case,” shared chief meteorologist Dr S. Sarfaraz.

He said that cold would become a bit intense as winds would stop blowing in the coming days.

The maximum wind speed recorded on Friday was 8-10 knots.

The cold wave, he said, would persist till weather conditions would improve in Balochistan by January 17.

“Today, we recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the country in Ziarat (-15°C) and Kalat (-11°C). Several other areas in Balochistan have similar severe weather conditions,” he told Dawn.

According to the Met department, the minimum temperature in the city would likely to range between 6°C and 8°C during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
