SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 5: Narang Mandi police claimed to have arrested three proclaimed offenders after an encounter in Adhian and recovered two hand-grenades, as many Kalashnikovs, a 44 bore riffle and four luxury vehicles from their possession. This was stated by Sheikhupura DPO Muhammad Aslam Khan Tareen while talking to reporters here on Thursday. SP (Investigation) Abdul Kareem was also present on the occasion.
The DPO said the police, led by SHO Malik Younas and in charge investigation Iftikhar Bhatti, raided the hideout of outlaws and arrested them after a brief encounter.
Those arrested were identified as Shahbaz of Gujranwala, Amjad of Nankana Sahib and Riaz of Sheikhupura. He said the arrested POs were involved in 37 cases of heinous crimes, including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, robbery, police encounter and kidnap for ransom. They were wanted by police of Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Nankana Sahib and other districts.
Other gang members — Ashraf alias Kamla, Nanha Gujjar and Yasin Jhabial had already been killed in two different encounters, the DPO said. The outlaws had shot dead constable Arif Husain in Bara Ghar police station limits some time ago.
Sp (Investigation) Abdul Kareem said that raiding teams had been constituted for the early arrest of their three accomplices.
Further investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, Punjab IGP Maj Ziaul Hassan Khan (retired) and Sheikhupura Range DIG Pervez Rahim Rajpoot announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the Narang police party.
