GUJRAT, Jan 4: Police have failed to arrest the outlaws who gang-raped a married woman during a dacoity bid in Theekarian village of Lalamusa some ten days ago. Reports said twelve dacoits forced their entry into the Mohammad Asghar’s house and held up the inmates at gunpoint on the night of Dec 24. They gang-raped Asghar’s daughter-in-law and escaped with over Rs50,000 booty. Lalamusa Saddar police registered a case and arrested four suspects.

DPO Raja Munawar Hussain also visited the victim’s house and ordered immediate arrest of the culprits. However, saddar police later discharged the four suspects.

No further progress had so far been made in the case.

In another incident, eight dacoits took away 35 tola gold jewellry and Rs20,000 cash from the house of one Farhad Sarwar in Haider Pura, Lalamusa, on the night of Dec 31.

Lalamusa city police have registered a case. The police believed that the same dacoits were involved in the both incidents.

Lalamusa city and its adjoining rural areas are in the grip of crime for the last two months. More than six motorcycle thefts had been reported in the jurisdiction of Lalamusa city police during the period.
