Six dacoits arrested

KASUR, Jan 4: Kasur police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested six members of a gang of robbers. Kasur DPO Ahmad Mobin said the gang known as Jabro Gang had made various strikes in the district in the last two months. On a tip-off, he added, two raids were conducted and the miscreants were rounded up.

Booty, including Rs165,000, a stolen motorcycle, besides two guns, a rifle, four pistols and 86 bullets were seized from the accused.

Furthermore, the DPO said two stolen cattleheads worth Rs100,000, a revolver, eight pistols, 110 gms hashish and five liquor bottles.

CAR SEIZED: A car taken away from Lahore was seized by the Kasur police after an encounter.

The DPO said a police patrol chased the car when it entered Kasur district. Its occupants opened fire on the police, which was retaliated.

Mr Mobin said the miscreants shot the driver of the car in his leg, and threw him outside. The police rushed him to hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

Later, the DPO said the car entered a big house, which was surrounded by the police. Some of the house inmates managed their escape, but two of them were taken into custody, he added. “The house is a hideout.
