CHARSADDA: A constable was martyred when unidentified assailants opened fire at him in the limits of Omarzai police station here on Saturday.

Officials said Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) constable Muzammil Shah was travelling on a motorcycle in Jarra locality of Omarzai when some attackers travelling in a car opened fire at him, killing him instantly.

The officials said the martyred constable was the gunner of FRP deputy commandant.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, district police officer Sohail Khalid and DSP Ihsan Shah reached the spot along with a contingent of police and launched a search operation in the area to track down the attackers.

Later, the funeral prayers of Muzammil Shah were offered at the Charsadda Police Lines attended by FRP deputy commandant Jehanzeb Khan, SP investigations Sajjad Khan, DPO Sohail Khalid, and relatives of the martyred constable.
