HYDERABAD, Jan 2: Police have denied that they entered the premises of Dialdas Club on Dec 29 and said that police were deployed only to avert any possible clash between two groups of members of the club.

The Additional Advocate-General of Sindh, Mr Masood A.Noorani, filed statements of the District Police Officer of Hyderabad and the SHO of the Cantonment Police Station, in response to a constitutional petition, filed by Nasir Mehmood Pirzada, who claimed to be the general secretary of the club.

The DPO of Hyderabad denied having supported Haji Nisar Memon, the president of Dialdas Club, and allegations that police entered the premises of the club or supported the other group were false.

He said that his name should be deleted from the list of respondents.

The SHO stated that he only deployed police force to avert any clash between two groups of members on December 29.

The hearing was adjourned till January 5. Hassan Mehmood Baig, advocate, represented Haji Nisar Memon.

Nasir Pirzada prayed the court in his petition to declare letters dated December 22, issued by the Provincial Assistant Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies to be illegal.

He said that Provincial Assistant Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies registered the body of the petitioner dated November 7 in which he was elected as general secretary, Nawab Mohammad Hussain Talpur as president, Ashraf Soorti as vice-president, Babo Bhatti as joint secretary and Rana Irfan as treasurer.

He said that on December 22, Haji Nisar Memon, Aftab Sherwani, Sohail, Arbab Niaz, Nazeer Awan tried to enter the family room of the club for gambling and were offered resistance on which they shouted and quarrelled with the petitioner and other members. Subsequently they brought liquor and acted like criminals, he added. He further said that some members filed petition before the sessions judge under section 22-A and B of the Cr.PC for registration of a criminal case on said incident.

He said that on December 29, Nisar Memon, Aftab Sherwani, Fazal Qadir Memon, Sohail, Arbab Niaz and others having full support of respondents with a heavy contingent of police entered the club unlawfully.

He said that by successive issuance and withdrawal of registration of the club, the Provincial Assistant Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies transgressed his authority which has to be curbed.
