The holiday season is just around the corner and so is the school winter break. Our Christian brothers and sisters must be busy in preparing for Christmas, which is never complete without a Christmas tree.

Since there is ample time, let us discover how to make a small Christmas tree.

Things you need:

  1. One green paper (A-4 size)
  2. Some colourful beads, or small thermopole balls for decoration.
  3. Scissors
  4. Hot glue or white glue

  1. Cut A-4 sized paper in square shape, then fold it diagonal from both sides, making a crease, picture 2.

  2. Now fold the paper into half, and make a crease again, picture 3.

  3. Hold from opposite corners, then join them together at the centre, press to make them flat at the same time, the harder you press the paper, the easier it will be to make your tree, picture 4.

  4. Turn it upside down, then fold two triangles to the inside as shown, and then repeat on the other side, pictures 5 and 6.

  5. Open the right triangle, and fold it inside, as shown in picture 7. Repeat on the left triangle.

  6. Repeat step five, on all sides of the paper; it should look like a little ‘kite, pictures 8 and 9.

  7. Cut the lower portion off, picture 10.

  8. The tricky part is over, now the fun part begins with folded pieces of paper in triangular shape, picture 11.

  9. With the help of scissors, carefully cut slits through all triangles, making sure not to cut through the centre folding line! picture 12.

  10. You can cut slits all by at once on all the folded triangles, but it takes a bit of force, picture 13.

  11. It’s time to make the twigs. Fold the slits by turning them like book pages, picture 14.

  12. Repeat on all slits, and spread out all of the branches evenly, picture 15.

  13. When you are done, just roll a small piece of brown paper and stick it at the bottom of the tree as a stem, picture 16.

  14. Paste beads on the edges of the twigs, and finally a star on top of the tree.

This cute little Christmas tree can be used as a bedside table decoration. It will also look beautiful hanging by the window or on a real tree. Moreover, you can make the tree bigger or smaller, just remember the size of the square piece of paper which is the base to make an ideal size of your choice.
