HYDERABAD, Jan 1: Activists of the Sindhi Shagird Tehrik marched from the Hyder chowk to the press club on Sunday. Tehrik leaders Javed Rajpar, Kamran Lakho and Ghaffar Malik accused the government of depriving Sindh of its water share and said it wanted to convert Sindh into a desert and destroy the 5000 years old cultural heritage of the province.

They criticized the role of bureaucrats, feudal lords and other people supporting construction of the dam.

Activist of the Pakistan Human Rights Forum also held a demonstration outside the press club against the dam, Balochistan operation and human rights violation.

Forum vice-chairman Wazir Bhaat, Qasim Soomro and Roshan Jamro said the dam project should be abandoned because it was creating hatred among the provinces.

They said the operation in Balochistan was violation of fundamental human rights.

They also condemned violence against women.

PYW: The People’s Youth Wing observed a token hunger strike on Sunday at the post office chowk to protest against Kalabagh dam.

Divisional president Tharo Khan Panhwar, finance secretary Akhtar Panhwar and others observed hunger strike.
