PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan is observing December 7 (Wednesday) as the National Voters Day.

A spokesman of the Provincial Election Commission said that various seminars and awareness walks would be arranged in connection with the day in all the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a major function of the day would be held in Peshawar. He said that all arrangements for the event had been finalised.

He said that Member Election Commission of Pakistan, Justice retired Ikramullah Khan, the chief secretary, Inspector General of Police, IGFC, administrative officers, representatives of various schools of thought and politicians would attend the Peshawar event.

He said that the election commission would present shields to heads of various government departments in recognition of their cooperation with the commission.

To highlight the day, he said various seminars, declamation contests, and rallies would be staged under the supervision of the regional election commissioner and district election commissioner of all districts of the province.
