CHARSADDA: A court on Friday convicted three persons in a murder case and awarded death sentence to two of them, and life imprisonment to the third.

Additional sessions judge Abdul Hassan Mohmand pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against the three accused, namely Wajid, Nadeem and Jamshid.

The judge awarded death penalty to Wajid and Nadeem and fined them Rs500,000 each, and sentenced Jamshid to life with Rs500,000 fine. The prosecution claimed Wajid and Nadeem had killed Ashfaq Hussain on August 17, 2018, on the instigation of Jamshid.

Meanwhile, the controversy in Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, ended as all the protesting students apologised to the vice-chancellor and gave an undertaking that they won’t participate in any kind of ‘illegal’ activity.

The students’ meeting with the VC was arranged by Sir Dheri police station DSP Sanubar Khan.

The vice-chancellor pardoned the students and advised them to pay full attention to their studies.
