LAHORE: Master Paints/Newage, Remington Pharma and Kalabagh/Zacky Farm won the opening-day matches of the Corps Commander Polo Cup here at the Jinnah Polo Fields (JPF) on Tuesday.

A superb six-goal contribution from Juan Cruz Gregul helped Master Paints/Newage outsmart Salam Polo team 7-4½. His team-mate Adnan Jalil Azam added one. Nicolas Ruiz Guinazu hammered a hat-trick for the losing side, which had a one-and-a-half-goal handicap advantage.

Later, Hamza Mawaz Khan’s nine goals powered Team Remington Pharma to a 11-4 victory over Team Rijas Group. Ahmed Bilal Riaz and Ahmed Zubair Butt chipped in with one goal each.

Only Bilal Haye could manage to score a brace for the losing side, which had a handicap advantage of two goals.

In the third and final match of the day, Team Kalabagh/Zacky Farm overwhelmed Team 4 Corps 11-5.

Raja Jalal Arsalan smashed nine goals for the winners while Maisam Haider Baloch and Nazar Dean Ali Khan converted one goal each.

For Team 4 Corps, Mohammad Raza Behboudi scored three goals while Maj Faizan Tasadduq Bhutta and Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana added one apiece.
