KARACHI, Dec 31: Superb unbeaten century by former Indian skipper Muhammad Azheruddin went in vain as it could not save Indian Veterans from a five-wicket defeat by Pakistan Veterans in the third ODI of series at KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow on Friday.

Pakistan by winning the match took a lead of 2-1 in four match series.

According to a Pakistan Seniors Cricket Board press release on Saturday, the hero for Pakistan seniors was former Test cricketer Ejaz Ahmed who was declared Man-of-the-Match by scoring unconquered 70 runs. He also received a check of Rs10000 for his sparkling innings.

Chasing a target of 244 runs, the visitors achieved it for the loss of five wickets in 32.4 overs. Besides Ejaz’s splendid knock, Mansoor Akhter blasted a magnificent 79 before getting out for the first time in the series.

Earlier, Indian seniors posted a total of 243 runs in stipulated 35 overs, which were reduced from 50 overs due to misty morning. Azheruddin who was in nostalgic mood hammered brilliant 111.

The last match of the series will be played under floodlit on Sunday at Kochi while legendary fast bowler and former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis will join Pakistan team.
