SADIQABAD, Dec 31: The local degree college for boys is facing multiple problems owing to lack of human resources and facilities. Crying out for immediate attention of the authorities concerned, the institution has been running short of staff which has affected its performance in the last couple of years. At least eight lecturers are required to complete the sanctioned staff strength of 32. Students taking classes of important subjects such as English, Urdu, Economics, Physics and Islamiat are suffering.
Those interested in studying Punjabi, Seraiki and Persian have been waiting for their dream of sanction of posts for the subjects materialized.
The principal, Prof Nazir Ahmad, attributes the institution’s deterioration to mushroom growth of private schools and colleges which draw more and more students. These institutions, he says, are attracting a number of promising students leaving the mediocre ones to join the government college.
The parents also are least bothered to keep in touch with the college staff and cooperate with him in maintaining discipline, he says.
