Published January 1, 2006

BAHAWALPUR, Dec 31: Cell phone shop owners kept their business close for about two hours on Saturday to protest against Rs1.4 million theft in mobile market.

According to the traders, hundreds of mobile sets, calling cards, chargers and other material, besides Rs0.5 million cash, was found missing from a Circular Road shop owned by one Mian Haroon Khan.

Kotwali police said the theft was committed after removing some parts of the shop’s roof.

The traders pulled down their shops’ shutters and gathered on the road to demonstrate against police apathy.

However, police officials reached the scene and assured the protesters that the culprits would be arrested soon, on which the traders called of the shutdown.

The police registered the case.

PSP: Pakistan Seraiki Party chief Taj Muhammad Langah has said the party will take a fresh stance on Kalabagh issue after examining it’s water committee report

The report would be reviewed at the party’s central committee meeting likely to be held in January, 2006.

Talking to journalists on Saturday at Ahmedpur East, Mr Langah observed as the matter was very important, it should be reconsidered.

He said the party, while deciding the issue, would also keep in view the interests of the people of Seraiki-speaking areas.
