TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 31: Thieves in probably one of town’s biggest theft incident took away cash, gold and ornaments worth Rs11 million from a jewellery shop here on Friday night.
The theft was committed at the shop of Haji Zubair Sharif, former Union Council No 54 naib nazim. The owner informed police that thieves entered his shop in New Market on Jhang Road by creating a hole in the roof. The criminals broke open the steel safe of almirahs with a drilling machine and took away all ornaments, gold and cash. Till the filing of this report, the police failed to find any clue to thieves.
However, DPO Akhtar Lalayka claimed that a team of expert police officials had found some witnesses which would enable police in arresting the accused within 24 hours.
A source disclosed that the police had obtained the record of calls made on Friday night from shop’s telephone which was allegedly used by thieves.
