KARACHI: Beach park inaugurated

KARACHI, Dec 31: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Saturday inaugurated the Clifton Beach Park, which will be open for families from Sunday (Jan 1). Mr Kamal, who entered the park by purchasing a ticket, was accompanied by City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil, DCO Karachi Fazlur Rahman, elected representatives, city government officials, newsmen and notables of the city.

Talking to newsmen on the occasion, the city nazim said this park was a gift from the Haq Parast group to the citizens of Karachi and added it was developed within a short span of time although the present city government was formed a few months back.

He said that people would have to purchase entrance tickets and the money earned would be spent on its maintenance and beautification while it would also be extended in the days to come.

The city nazim said that he had planned to construct more parks in the city and added that Karachi’s biggest park was being developed at the Gutter Baghicha.

According to him, the city government had earned Rs138.6 million from auction of park’s entrance fee and other recreational projects.

The main attraction of the park in question is the monorail, being introduced first time in the country, which will start functioning within the next six months. In addition to that, a replica of moving dinosaur is another feature of the park, which will give rides to 10 children at a time.

In addition to that, fountains and swings have been installed in the park, he informed.—PPI
