LAHORE: Two alleged robbers and a citizen died, while another suspect was arrested when their motorcycle met with an accident during hot pursuit by Dolphin police in Shadbagh area late on Tuesday.

A police official said the suspects committed several street crimes, mostly snatching mobile phones, cash and other valuables from citizens on Tuesday night in Mughalpura, Fatehgarh and Tajpura areas.

He said the victims lodged their complaints on police helpline 15, which were conveyed to the Dolphin police personnel in the areas where the criminals were active.

Meanwhile, he said, three suspects riding a motorcycle had a brief encounter with Dolphin personnel, but they entered narrow streets and roads in the area to dodge the chasing police.They also shot at the Dolphin personnel who kept chasing them. Near Bogiwal Road, Shadbagh, the rashly-driven bike of the panicked suspects collided with some locals who were pushing a tractor-trolley that had broke down. As a result, two of the alleged robbers and a local were critically injured and died on the spot, while two other area residents suffered minor injuries.

The Dolphin police arrested the third suspect, who also suffered multiple injuries and shifted him to a hospital.

The Dolphin force SP also reached the spot to probe the matter.

The official said the complainants, who were robbed of their phones and cash etc, also identified the robbers in the presence of the Dolphin SP and other police officers.

The police have lodged a case against the suspects.
