Perks and privileges of MNAs reviewed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 30: The finance committee of the National Assembly on Friday reviewed the working of the assembly secretariat and discussed issues related to improve its working.

The committee which met here at the Parliament House also reviewed perks and privileges granted to MNAs.

National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain presided over the meeting.

The committee discussed maintenance of parliament lodges and its occupation by unauthorized people.

The committee decided to provide adequate funds for maintenance of the lodges and parliament house.

The committee directed the ministry of finance to earmark maintenance budget for the parliament house and lodges, separately.

The CDA was directed to get the lodges vacated from unauthorized occupants.

The committee reviewed the progress of the implementation of the decision taken during the previous meeting.

The meeting also discussed matters related to promotions, extension and up-gradation of some existing posts in the secretariat keeping in view the increase in the numerical strength of the MNAs.

The meeting approved enhancement in the rates of diet charges admissible to the employees of BS-1 to 15, grant of special pay to PAs of chairman standing committee and up-gradation of the post of deputy director (media) from BS-18 to BS-19.—APP
