RAWALPINDI: As part of his farewell visits, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday went to see various setups of the Army Medical Corps.

He said quality healthcare for soldiers and their families was a cardinal feature of the army’s welfare regime and critical for the morale of troops.

Surgeon General Pakistan Army Lt Gen Nigar Johar accompanied the COAS, an ISPR news release said.

At the Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, he was briefed by the CMH commandant about the newly upgraded facilities. The army chief was shown the control room that has been recently set up to impart training to doctors through live surgery process at the academic centre.

He laid the foundation stone of a training block of the Armed Forces Postgraduate Institute and visited the newly built soldiers’ guestrooms, the Army Help Centre and the upgraded facilities of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology.

The COAS was earlier received by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
