SUKKUR: The Sukkur Counter-Terrorism Depart-ment (CTD) claimed to have arrested a suspected terrorist linked to the banned Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) in SITE area here late on Friday night.

A CTD spokesperson said that Sukkur police caught the suspect identified as Mir Hassan, who was an important member of the BLA, during routine patrolling in the area.

The suspect was preparing to carry out a terror act when police arrested him, he said, adding that police found a pistol, bullets and a magazine in his possession.

He said that the suspect confessed during interrogation to have detonated a hand-grenade near Mauladad railway crossing in Jacobabad in 2020 and acted as facilitator for another terrorist.

He said that in past he and his associates Ahsan, Mohammad Ali and Ghaffar had carried out several terror activities on the directives of BLA commander. The investigation was under way, he said.
