KARACHI, Dec 30: The Sindh High Court on Friday issued the advocate-general and the Saddar town police officers notices in a petition alleging illegal detention of an Awam Dost candidate.

Petitioner Shabbir Ahmed alleged that his brother, Mohammad Khan Jakhrani, who was contesting election for the office of naib nazim, union council Khan Jo Goth, Dadu, as a candidate of the Awam Dost group, was unlawfully detained by the town police officer, Saddar. No case was registered against him nor was he produced before any court.

A division bench, comprising Justices Mushir Alam and Mohammad Athar Saeed, directed that notices be issued for Jan 5.
