KARACHI: 4,000-kg hashish seized

KARACHI, Dec 30: The Customs Preventive Staff on Friday thwarted a drug smuggling attempt and seized about 4,000kg charas, which was brought from Afghanistan.

According to the Customs, acting upon a tip, a raiding party was formed under Assistant Collector Headquarters which raided a house in Surjani Town and recovered 3.95tons (3,950kg) of contraband from its second storey. The house was hired for this very purpose.

The charas carried the mark “Mazar Sharif Afghanistan” and was brought here in two trucks.

According to the Customs, the contraband was to be smuggled out concealed in old clothes. It is the largest ever quantity seized by Preventive Collectorate in the recent years.

A special raiding team is carrying out raids to apprehend the actual culprits.—APP
