KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has directed authorities concerned to complete the process to fill 8,000 vacancies in the education department within three months.

Justice Salahuddin Panhwar in his order said it had come on record that around 8,000 vacancies in education faculties were lying vacant. Hence, schools secretary should submit all requisitions along with syllabus to the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), which must ensure to complete the process of conducting written exam and interviews within three months.

The court asked the SPSC to adopt the same mechanism as provided in lecturers’ examination.

The bench also directed the secretary to submit complete details of new higher secondary schools and whether their SNE (sanctioned new establishments) had been approved by the finance department.

In this regard, it asked the additional secretary-finance to be in attendance with complete details approved and submitted by the school education department.

In pursuance to an earlier order, SPSC’s controller examinations along with counsel contended that new members of the commission likely to be notified at the end of this month and interviews of lecturers will be conducted within the spirit of the SHC orders in coordination with college education department and IBA experts.

Referring to its earlier orders about establishment of digital and computer libraries across the province, the bench said that compliance report has not been submitted yet and directed the secretary culture to file such report and summoned director general libraries on Dec 13.
