TAXILA: A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a boy last year. A fine of Rs200,000 was also imposed on him.

Additional Sessions Judge Mirza Shahid Baig awarded the sentence to Mohammad Babar after the prosecution proved charges against them. Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Mohammad Kosar said as per the first information report (FIR), on July 9, 2021, the accused took a mentally-challenged boy to a house in Kamalpur Musa and sexually assaulted him.

He said the victim’s father then registered an FIR against the accused at Rangoo police station under sections 377 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The court, after hearing arguments from both sides and recording statements of the complainant and victim, awarded a 20-year sentence to the accused.
