Computer dealers observe strike

FAISALABAD, Dec 29: Computer software and hardware dealers of Satiana Road observed a strike and staged a demonstration against the police raids on their shops and registration of cases here on Thursday. They pulled the shutters of their shops down and gathered on the main road claiming that they were being harassed at the behest of some international software companies.

They said the police registered false cases against three shopkeepers without any proof. When the shopkeepers of Rex City, the biggest computer market of the city, protested over the registration of cases, police booked 100 shopkeepers under 16 MPO.

They said they were being treated like ‘terrorists’ by the police. The raids were harming their business, they added.

Meanwhile, a delegation of shopkeepers met City SP Saeed Naveed and SP (investigation) Rana Tauqeer Hayat and demanded withdrawal of cases registered against their colleagues.
