MMA to resist deportation of students

Published December 29, 2005

LAHORE, Dec 28: MMA president and Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has said that Gen Musharraf is not sincere about Kalabagh or any other water reservoir as the issue has been raised only to divide the opposition parties.

It is also being used to divert public attention from issues like price hike and unemployment, he said while talking to newsmen at Mansoora on Wednesday.

He said the MMA would take up all basic issues in the meeting of combined opposition soon and would decide about a movement against the government.

The Qazi warned that any attempt to solve the Kalabagh dam issue at gunpoint would create serious problems for the country and increase differences among the provinces.

The MMA leader said expulsion of foreign students from seminaries was against ideological foundations of the country and Islamic practices.
