LOWER DIR: Speakers at a function here the other day urged philanthropists to extend support for education of orphan children.

The function was arranged in Gadar area of Adenzai here organised by NGO Kaka Welfare Foundation.

On the occasion, 60 orphan students of primary, middle and high schools were provided with schoolbags, uniforms, shoes and other necessary items.

Foundation’s chairman Asghar Khan, additional assistant commissioner, Adenzai, Nasir Ali, PPP activist Naeemullah, Dr Mohammad Zahir, Sabir Khan and others spoke on the occasion, urging humanitarian organisations and wealthy people to help the orphans, widows and helpless segments of society. JOIN QWP: A number of people from Badwan area of Adenzai on Friday announced joining the Qaumi Watan Party at a function.

The party leaders welcomed the new entrants and said the QWP was a representative party of the poor.

SPORTS COMPETITIONS: The inter-district sports competitions among the students of high and higher secondary schools would be held at different grounds in Lower Dir from Nov 9 to 15.

The decision was made during a meeting held the other day.

Winners of different games at the district level in Malakand division would compete in these games.

It was decided that cricket matches would be played at the ground of government higher secondary school (GHSS), Mayar, volleyball and tug-of-war competitions at GHS Mian Banda, football in Khaima Balambat, hockey at Timergara Rest House ground, badminton and table tennis at Khungi ground.
