QUETTA, Dec 28: Shahwani tribal elders have demanded action against tehsil staff and police officials supporting land mafia in occupying the land of tribesmen.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, Nawabzada Muhammad Khan Shahwani asked the government to take measures in the Quetta district to help protect the inherited land of the tribe.

He said the Shahwani tribesmen were law-abiding citizens and did not create law and order problem for the government, but they would go on strike if the government did not stop trespassers to occupy their land.

Mr Khan alleged that police on Tuesday arrested four tribesmen to allow the land mafia to occupy their land.

The tribal elder alleged that some provincial ministers were supporting the mafia and warned that tribesmen would resort to serious protest if the government ignored their demand.

He claimed tehsil staff and police officials were getting bribe from trespassers to legalize the occupation of the land.
