RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a citizen accused of threatening the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in a video posted on social media earlier this month.

The accused posted the video from Saudi Arabia after the Election Commission disqualified PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference.

The FIA’s cybercrime found that the accused, arrested from Islamabad airport on Friday, left for Saudi Arabia from Lahore on Oct 14 to perform Umrah.

He was immediately taken into custody by immigration officials as soon as he landed at the airport and was handed over to the cybercrime wing for further legal action, the agency’s officials said.
